Frequently Asked Questions

What is ABA therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapeutic approach focused on helping children build meaningful skills in areas such as communication, independence, learning, and everyday life. At Thrive Hive ABA, treatment is individualized around each child’s strengths, needs, and family goals.

Our Thrive Hive ABA program serves children and adolescents ages 2–18. Services are individualized based on each child’s needs, developmental level, and treatment goals.

We provide primarily in-home and community-based ABA services throughout Eastern North Carolina. Service availability depends on your location and current clinical capacity. Families can contact our team to determine whether services are currently available in their area.

Yes. We work with NC Medicaid and a variety of commercial insurance plans. Coverage and authorization requirements vary by plan, so our team will verify benefits and help families understand the insurance process before services begin.

Parents and caregivers are an important part of treatment. Our BCBAs provide caregiver training and collaborate with families so that skills learned during therapy can be supported and generalized into everyday routines and environments.
There is no one-size-fits-all number of treatment hours. Recommended hours are determined by the BCBA following the assessment and are based on the child’s clinical needs, treatment goals, family circumstances, and insurance authorization.

The assessment allows the BCBA to learn about your child’s strengths, needs, behaviors, communication, daily living skills, and family priorities. It may include caregiver interviews, direct observation, record review, and appropriate clinical assessment tools. The information gathered is used to develop an individualized treatment plan and recommended level of care.

Getting started begins by contacting our team or submitting an inquiry through the website. We will review your child’s needs, verify insurance benefits and required documentation, and guide you through the intake process. Once the necessary requirements and authorization are completed, we will coordinate the assessment and next steps for beginning services.
